Munich, March 14, 2016. Beta Film productions have received two of the most prestigious German TV Awards at yesterday’s ceremony. The drama series Red Bracelets, the German version of the Spanish/Catalan mega success “Polseres Vermelles”, won as Best Series, up and coming actor Jonas Nay, who leads Beta’s post-war drama Line of Separation, was awarded as Best Actor. Produced by Beta Film subsidiary Bantry Bay, Red Bracelets (10xone hour) delivers a brand new approach to traditional hospital series, depicting live and whereabouts of six seriously ill children. The show, based on the TV3 Televisió de Catalunya series, scored outstanding ratings at Germany’s VOX with up to 14.7 % market share, doubling the channels average market share in the target group 14-49 years. The book by Albert Espinosa, who created the Spanish original together with Pau Freixas, has topped Germany’s Spiegel bestseller list for several weeks over Christmas and runs currently on #2. Jonas Nay was honoured for his role in Beta’s world sales hit Line of Separation (3xtwo hours), the emotionally gripping mini-series about the fate of a village torn between Eastern and Western occupation zones after the end of WW II. The mini-series, inspired by true historical events, was produced by Academy Award winner Wiedemann & Berg ("Live of Others"), Gabriela Sperl, ZDF, Wilma and Beta Film. This year, Beta productions scored 13 award-nominations, among them for the drama about the crashing Starfighter planes and for the TNT-psycho-thriller series The Valley – In the Mist of Silence.
