Munich, 18 April 2016. Beta’s Murder by the Lake-movie cycle remains true to its tradition as constant primetime winner and darling of the young target group: The latest installment Murder by the Lake – The Sleepwalker beat prestigious formats such as RTL’s Millionaire with 6.8 million viewers and 20.5 % market share on ZDF. In addition, the show doubled the average channel ratings in the younger target group (14-49 years) with 11 % (1.25 million viewers).

Boosted by the success, the detective duo, played by Nora von Waldstaetten (“Famous Five III”) and Matthias Koeberlin (“Jesus Video”), keeps on investigating without any break: Episodes four and five, currently in production and directed by Hannu Salonen (“Shades of Guilt”), are due to be delivered February/March 2017.

The Murder by the Lake-cycle (5xtwo hours) is a success-story at German TV with each movie winning the primetime with 20 percent market share or higher. The show follows cross-border crimes at the shores of the marvelous Lake Constance, forcing German and Austrian police to join forces despite apparently very different mentalities. Murder by the Lake is produced by Beta subsidiary Rowboat Film- und Fernsehproduktion, Beta Film is handling the world sales.
