“NSU German History X” premieres on Netflix US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia & NZ

Munich, 6 July 2016. The gripping drama-series NSU German History X is set to premiere on Netflix throughout North America, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and the UK. The show, based on true and current events, will debut Thursday as “original series” on the platform. The high end drama for German public broadcaster ARD has been sold by Beta to numerous territories, among them all major Scandinavian public broadcasters as well as Belgium and the Netherlands, further deals are in final negotiations.

Produced by Gabriela Sperl (“Line of Separation”) and Academy Award-winning Wiedemann&Berg (“The Lives of Others”), NSU German History X (3x90’) has been honored with the prestigious Bloggers Award at France’ Series Mania and was nominated for the Magnolia Award at the Shanghai TV Festival. The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung praised, “a film as important as it is great”, Die Welt states “with these films, ARD is writing television history, “Le Monde” depicts the show as “remarkable and very disturbing”.

In the aftermath of the fall of the Iron Curtain a clandestine far-right German terrorist group called National Socialist Underground, or NSU, began operating in Germany by killing immigrants in cold blood, termed the Bosporus Serial Murders. It took the police and intelligence services over ten years to hunt down the perpetrators. Beate Zschäpe, suspected to be an active member of the NSU, is still on trial today.
