Munich, 4 November 2014. Beta Film’s Murder by the Lake: The Celtic Mystery, produced by Rowboat Film, has been chased by the German audience, thrilling 6.6 million viewers on public broadcaster ZDF. The first movie of a cycle, further ones are currently in production, gained as primetime winner an extraordinary  20 % market share, leaving popular shows such as RTL’s “Millionaire” far behind. Also the younger audience (14 – 49 years) turned in, pushing the market share up to 11.5 %, doubling the channels average viewership in this section.

Murder by the Lake: The Celtic Mystery follows a serial murder, who operates at the shores of the marvelous Lake Constance, forcing German and Austrian police to join forces despite national boundaries and different mentalities. Directed by Andreas Linke and starring Matthias Köberlin (“Jesus Video”) and Nora von Waldstätten (“Famous Five III”), Murder by the Lake was produced by Rowboat Film- and TV- production GmbH in co-production with Graf Filmproduction GmbH, ZDF and ORF. The second production of the cycle, Murder by the Lake: Family Issues, just wrapped shooting.
