New York, NY (April 08, 2014) – The Weinstein Company (TWC) announced today that they have acquired rights to the crime drama series GOMORRA from Beta Film. The series will consist of twelve one-hour installments and is produced by Sky Italia, Cattleya, Fandango, La 7 and Beta Film. We're incredibly happy to be on board with the entire group of producers behind the show, including Beta and Riccardo Tozzi, Giovanni Stabilini and Marco Chimenz'S team at Cattleya."

The deal for GOMORRA was negotiated by TWC by COO David Glasser, Michal Steinberg, EVP, Business/Legal Affairs & Acquisitions, and Robert Walak, President/MD Europe, Production, Acquisitions and TV with Dirk Schürhoff of Beta on behalf of the filmmakers.

Jan Mojto, CEO Beta Film, adds: "GOMORRA is the best example for high quality European television, which does not only have an impact in its home country, but makes its way as a foreign language product to the English speaking world. After selling it to UK, France, HBO Nordic and Latin America among others, we are proud to deliver this in every aspect outstanding series to The Weinstein Company. With its marketing expertise and distribution skills TWC is an ideal partner to make this exceptional show a success in the States."

Andrea Scrosati, Sky Italia's Programming Executive Vice President, comments: "Since Sky started developing original entertainment content and TV drama, the goal has been delivering innovative, high-quality programming to our subscribers, exploring groundbreaking and unconventional stories.
