"Homicide Hills" sets benchmark in Germany - green light for third season

Munich, 5 Dec 2012. The detective series Homicide Hillsis setting benchmarks in Germany. The second season of the high-spirited crime series has been occupying its slot as ongoing prime-time winner on Tuesday nights from its start in late August until the end of the season on Dec 4rd. Responding to the tremendous success of the series, public channel ARD gave the green light for the third season with 13 new episodes. Shooting will start in May/June 2013.
Over the period of three months, the ratings on ARD went up from 5.6 to 6.7 million viewers, scoring record ratings of up to 20.5 percent market share (average 6.1 million viewers, 19.1 percent market share). The series (26xone hour) even bettered prestigious Sat.1 formats such as the Ken Follett adaptation "World Without End" (part 2) by three million and the sequel "The Legacy of the Traveling Whore" by nearly one million viewers. Younger audiences also love the detective series, capturing shares of over 12 percent, well above the ARD’s average ratings in the 14-49 target group. Starring Caroline Peters, Bjarne Mädel and Meike Droste, Homicide Hills is produced by PRO TV Produktion for ARD in association with Beta.
