“Hindenburg” top scorer in Germany

Munich, 8 Feb. 2011. The two-part RTL event movie Hindenburg has unrivaled won both evenings of its primetime airing on German TV. The miniseries (2x90’) about the spectacular zeppelin crash of 1937 was watched on both nights by almost 15 million viewers. In the young target group (14 – 49 years), Hindenburg scored record ratings with a market share of up to 28 %. With a budget of over ten million Euros, Hindenburg, produced by teamWorx and EOS and shot in English, is RTL’s most expensive event-movie ever.
The dramatic and still unsolved mystery of the explosion of the zeppelin shortly before landing in New Jersey in 1937 ranks among the major catastrophes of civilian aviation. The action-packed film recounts the story of a German-American conspiracy through which an US industrialist (Stacy Keach, “Prison Break”) hopes to make a lucrative helium-gas deal. In further roles are Lauren Lee Smith (“CSI”), Maximilian Simonischek and Greta Scacchi (“Trojan Horse”); director is Philipp Kadelbach.
