Tutto Verdi - one of the most ambitious opera projects ever - is UNITEL CLASSICA's exclusive highlight this October, celebrating Verdi's 200th birthday on October 10.

Enjoy as a world TV premiere Giuseppe Verdi's complete operatic works and his Requiem in High Definition and with Surround Sound. All 26 operas, which were produced in coproduction with the Verdi Festival, the Teatro Regio di Parma and the Teatro Verdi di Busseto are presented in chronological order, giving the viewer the unique chance to discover the grand composers musical development as well as the musical and historical influences he was under.

On the birthday itself the great composer is honored with the broadcast of his Requiem in a special open air concert starring D'Arcangelo, Grigolo, De Young and Di Giacomo. The L.A. Philharmonic are conducted by no less than Gustavo Dudamel.

For the new concert season 2013/2014 starting in September, UNITEL CLASSICA, the TV channel for the world of classical music, presents a special Concert Series, taking the audience on a journey around the world to more than 20 of the world's greatest orchestras and introducing to the main works of the upcoming season.

From September 1 to 29, UNITEL CLASSICA presents from Monday to Friday at 20:15 concerts of more than 20 of the most prestigious orchestras of the world so the audience can take the unique chance to find out more about the specific sound characteristics from three continents: The bright, brass instrument accentuated sound from New York, Cleveland and Boston, the graceful transparency of the Orchestre de Paris, the royal elegance from Amsterdam, the analytic, clear interpretation of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the late-romantic, opulent luscious sound of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, the long-established perfection of the Central European orchestra tradition in Berlin, Dresden, Vienna, the "grandezza" of the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the string accentuated, warm magical sound from Prague, Warsaw and St. Petersburg as well as the precision of the NHK Symphony Orchestra from Tokyo.

From September 1 to 29, UNITEL CLASSICA takes the audience on a "concert tour", starting in the USA in Cleveland (Ohio) with the Cleveland Orchestra on September 1, followed by the New York Philharmonic on September 2 and the Boston Symphony Orchestra on September 3. The journey from West to East continues in Europe with the Orchestre de Paris on September 4 and moves on to the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, to the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, to the Berliner Philharmoniker, to the Staatskapelle Berlin, to the Staatskapelle Dresden, to the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia from Rome, to the Wiener Philharmoniker, to the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra Saint Petersburg and others. The journey ends with a concert of the NHK Symphony Orchestra from Tokyo.

Following to every prime time concert, we will introduce you to the main pieces these fine orchestras will be performing throughout the upcoming season, so you're prepared – already now.

On Sundays we will feature concert highlights from four main European orchestras: the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (Sept 8), the Staatskapelle Berlin (Sept 15), the Staatskapelle Dresden (Sept 22) and the Wiener Philharmoniker (Sept 29). Additionally, we show all five concerts of the week once again on Sunday afternoons.

Performing the NEW CONCERT SEASON 2013/2014 Special, UNITEL CLASSICA shows more than 50 concerts including two world premieres and a number of platform premieres.

UNITEL CLASSICA, the exclusive TV channel for Classical Music, presents the SUMMER FESTIVAL 2013 with 8 Live Broadcasts from the renowned Festivals in Salzburg, Lucerne and Bregenz, numerous TV and Platform Premieres and daily Opera and Concert Highlights. Beginning on July 19, UNITEL CLASSICA shows the spectacular new staging of Mozart's Magic Flute live from the stage on the lake in Bregenz.

(Oberhaching, July 18, 2013) UNITEL CLASSICA, the exclusive TV channel for the world of Classical Music, presents the UNITEL CLASSICA SUMMER FESTIVAL from July 19 to August 31 with more than 80 operas and concerts, 7 live resp. live time-deferred broadcasts from four of the most renowned Festivals for Classical Music worldwide: The Salzburg Festival, The Lucerne Festival, the Bregenz Festival and from the Arena di Verona.

The SUMMER FESTIVAL starts with the live broadcast of the most popular "Magic Flute" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, spectacularly staged by David Poutney on the lake stage from the Festival in Bregenz on July 19, 9:15 p.m.

The Vienna Philharmonic Opening Concert at the Salzburg Festival conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt with Joseph Haydn's THE SEASONS will be broadcast live on July 28, 8:15 p.m.

Celebrating the 200th birthday of Richard Wagner and Giuseppe Verdi on the first weekend in August at the Salzburg Festival, UNITEL CLASSICA will broadcast DIE MEISTERSINGER VON NÜRNBERG on August 2 and FALSTAFF on August 3, each live at prime time at 8:15 p.m.

On 10 August 1913 the Roman amphitheatre Arena di Verona was inaugurated as an opera stage. UNITEL CLASSICA honors this famous open air opera venue showing a total of four spectacular opera productions from the Arena di Verona over one weekend, among them Verdi's AIDA in a staging based on the original performance from 1913. On Sunday, August 11 UNITEL CLASSICA shows one of Verdi's most popular operas: LA TRAVIATA, each at 8:15 p.m.

 Another highlight from the Salzburg Festival is Verdi's DON CARLO, starring Jonas Kaufmann, Anja Harteros und Thomas Hampson with the Vienna Philharmonic, conducted by Antonio Pappano and staged by Peter Stein. Don't miss that highlight. The performances have been sold out faster than any other event.UNITEL CLASSICA is broadcasting this opera on August 16 at 8:15 p.m.

Celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Lucerne Festival, UNITEL CLASSICA presents another live broadcast with the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra conducted by Daniel Barenboim on August 18, 8:15 p.m. At the anniversary weekend of August 24 and 25 UNITEL CLASSICA shows another seven concerts from Lucerne, among them with Claudio Abbado and the Festival Orchestra and with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra conducted by Andris Nelsons.

Mozart's THE ABDUCTION FROM THE SERAGLIO is another special event from the Salzburg Festival which will be performed at Hangar 7 at the Salzburg airport. Since there is no stage, the opera will be performed among historic airplanes, racing cars and other vehicles. UNITEL CLASSICA is airing this event with star soprano Diana Damrau and others live on August 26, 8:15 p.m.

There is yet another premiere to enjoy at the end of the UNITEL CLASSICA Summer Festival: The NHK Symphony Orchestra's first performance at the Salzburg Festival conducted by Charles Dutoit. They will play works by Toru Takemitsu, Toshio Hosokawa und Hector Berlioz. UNITEL CLASSICA presents this concert on August 31 at 8:15 p.m.

UNITEL CLASSICA broadcasts the WAGNER GALA from the Semperoper Dresden to celebrate the 200th birthday of the great composer. Music director Christian Thielemann conducts the ouvertures and great tenor scenes from Richard Wagner's operas which were premiered in Dresden. Jonas Kaufmann, one of the most popular Wagnerian tenors of the age, will be a special guest. The concert will be broadcast live-time deferred in Europe and South Africa on May 21 and in Asia on May 22 in High Definition and with Surround Sound.

April 10, 2013.UNITEL CLASSICA broadcasts the festive anniversary concert celebrating 125 years of the Concertgebouw and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra on April 10, live from Amsterdam. The star-studded concert with Dutch violinist Janine Jansen, Chinese pianist Lang Lang and US-American baritone Thomas Hampson will be directed by music director Mariss Jansons. The concert will be broadcasted in 23 countries with High Definition and Surround Sound.

 

The Concertgebouw,one of the best concert halls in the world, was officially inaugurated on April 11, 1888. Famous for its exceptional acoustics and varied programs it serves as the home base of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and features performances by the world's best orchestras, conductors and soloists.

 

The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra is the most important orchestra of the Netherlands and one of the best orchestras worldwide. Founded in 1888 it soon became world famous due to its unique sound and virtuosity. World-renowned Willem Mengelberg, Eduard van Beinum, Bernard Haitink, Riccardo Chailly and others were among its important Music directors.On the occasion of its 100th anniversary the orchestra was conferred with the "Royal" titel by Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands.

April 7, 2013. UNITEL announces the production of the 10th symphony concert of the Staatskapelle Dresden under the direction of Christian Thielemann and with Georgian violinist Lisa Batiashvili. They perform Johannes Brahms's Violin Concerto in D major, the Academic Festival Overture and his Fourth Symphony.

This production, taking place from April 7 to 9 at Semperoper Dresden, is the third UNITEL production within the Brahms Cycle with Christian Thielemann and Staatskapelle Dresden.
