Three Superstars in Berlin: Beta Film and Unitel present Domingo, Netrebko and Villazón

In the tradition of the original "The Three Tenors," world-class singers Plácido DomingoAnna Netrebko and Rolando Villazón unite for a classical music highlight. The international TV licensor Beta Film has acquired the world distribution rights to the top classical event of 2006, live from Berlin's legendary Waldbuehne. The three opera stars will sing the most famous arias and duets from the world of opera before a live audience of 20,000 spectators on location and millions more around the world on TV. Produced by DEAG Deutsche Entertainment AG and Jan Mojto's Unitel in cooperation with ZDF, the event will take place on Friday, 7 July 2006, less than 48 hours before the football world celebrates its new champion. Plácido Domingo,Anna Netrebko and Rolando Villazón will be accompanied by the orchestra of the Deutsche Oper Berlin and its conductor Marco Armiliato. The production will be shot in High Definition (HDTV).

Looking back on an extraordinary career that has been honored with 11 Grammys,Plácido Domingo has become the very epitome of the operatic tenor. He is a star who beguiles every audience with his virile charisma. Anna Netrebko and Rolando Villazón unleashed a worldwide media frenzy in summer 2005 with their rapturously acclaimed "La Traviata" at the Salzburg Festival. The subsequent "Violetta" album immediately shot up to the top of the charts. Anna Netrebko's debut as Natasha Rostova in Prokofiev's "War and Peace" at New York's Metropolitan Opera had the critics hailing her as an "Audrey Hepburn with a voice." Rolando Villazón is seen by Plácido Domingo as his potential successor and as the tenor with the brightest future.Villazón's international career started in 1999 with his acclaimed European debut in Genoa as Des Grieux in Massenet's "Manon".
The venue of the concert, the Waldbuehne in Berlin, was modeled after ancient amphitheaters and has been hosting all the giants of the rock and pop world such as Robbie Williams and the Rolling Stones.
Also available from Beta Film is the famous production of Verdi's "La Traviata" with Anna Netrebko, Rolando Villazón and Thomas Hampson recorded at last summer's Salzburg Festival, produced by Unitel, ORF, BR and NHK.
